The Italian company Eni, which operates in the field of oil and natural gas production, announced a new oil discovery in the Mleiha concession in the western desert of Egypt.

The company said in a statement on its website that the new discovery was made by drilling the “Arcadia 9” exploration well, which is excavated at the Arkadia South base, which is located 1.5 km south of the field. main Arkadia of which is already being produced.

The new discovery adds 10,000 barrels of oil per day to the company’s total production in Egypt’s western desert, according to the statement.

He added that the well was drilled close to existing production facilities and is already linked to production at a steady rate of 5,500 barrels of oil per day.

It said that after the discovery, two development wells, Arcadia 10 and Arcadia 11, were drilled, according to the statement.

Eni owns through its subsidiary “IOC” a 38% stake in the Mleiha concession, while Lakoil owns 12% and General Petroleum Corporation 50%.

Eni has been present in Egypt since 1954, as it is the country’s main oil and gas producer. Eni’s current hydrocarbon production is about 320,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
