Al-Qai’i: Ramadan did not reserve “opportunity to return”

Adly Al-Qaei, an adviser to the Al-Ahly club’s hiring committee, said Ramadan Sobhi was wrong in his transfer to Pyramids, asking him to put up with the backlash from the Red fans.

Ramadan Sobhi moved to Pyramids from Huddersfield earlier this season after turning down Al-Ahly’s offer.

“The difference between the departure of Ramadan and Ahmed Fathy is the latter’s experience and his silence towards the anger of the masses at the announcement of his departure,” Adly Al-Qai’i added to Al-Ahly TV.

Ahmed Fathy left for Pyramids at the beginning of the current season after refusing to renew his contract with Al-Ahly, which expired at the end of last season.

“Ramadan’s statements regarding his transfer to an ambitious club, which he referred to during his Pyramids filming session, lacked experience and excited fans,” Al-Qai’i revealed.

He continued: “He could have broached the subject of his desire to secure his future in a better way and asked to try playing for Pyramids to get the attractive financial offer. The opportunity to return in the future would have been reserved here, especially when he was young” .

He added: “We were counted as a cadre and he could have followed in the footsteps of Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the club president, and he was not far behind. He would have remained the club president if he had come out better.”

He concluded: “I ask Ramadan to calm down and accept the reaction of the masses towards what it has done.”
