European reports said today, Monday, that former Al-Ahly club coach Rene Fyler is one of the candidates to coach the Belgian Standard League team.

As reported by the “voetbalnieuws” newspaper, Philippe Montane, current Standard League manager, is close to leaving the Belgian team after losing 1-0 to Muscron in the match that brought them together on the 17th round of the Belgian League.

The Standard League currently ranks ninth in the Belgian league table with 25 points.

The newspaper reviewed 10 possible candidates to succeed Montani in training sessions for the Belgian team, including Fyler, a former Al-Ahly coach, and Patrick Vieira, a former coach of the French club Nice.

The newspaper said that Fyler had previously coached a Belgian club, having had experience with Anderlecht during the period from July 2016 to September 2017, with whom he won the local league and the Super Cup.

The newspaper added that Weiler had a great year with Anderlecht, adding that he currently has no club as he recently turned down an offer from French club Nantes.

Notably, Fyler took over the technical task at Al-Ahly club from August 31, 2019 until last October, with him winning the local and super league championships and also leading the red team to the semi-finals of the African Champions League.
