He began his career at Damanhour Games Club, with Hamdi Fathi, who is currently a player for Al-Ahly, but his family circumstances did not allow him to complete his career normally, mainly because he had to work while playing football. Hassan Weika speaks to FilGoal.com about the reasons for his football career interruption.
Wika told FilGoal.com, saying: “Soccer started at the age of 16 at Damanhour Games Club, and I was selected into the team born in 94 by Mr. Al-Bashbishi and Alaa Al-Meligy. The team included Hamdi Fathi, Al-Ahly’s player at the time, and Mahmoud Moaz, Smouha’s former player.
He continued: “I continued for 4 seasons and joined the Al-Buhaira national team, the Bahri national team and the youth camp, born in 94, with Mohamed Omar, the team coach.”
He added: “That generation includes Mahmoud Kahraba, Mahmoud Waheed and Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet at that time, and the team was canceled and the 94 and 93 teams were merged.”
“I moved to the Youth Olympics in 2012-2013, and I was promoted to the first team for a short period, then after one season I decided to return to the Damanhour Games for one season.”
“I also played for Al-Hurriya Club in Al-Dabaa, and we qualified from third to second division and participated in more than one game during that season. Then I played for Al-Jazeera Matrouh in third division and we went up together for the first time to the second division. “
He continued: “Three seasons ago, I went to the test at the Egyptian club Al-Port Said, but it didn’t last long, and I remember the advice of Hassan Mostafa, the Egyptian coach at the time. He told me that you are a good goalkeeper and you must have confidence in your abilities to achieve your dream. “
She added: “But I continued in Matrouh and moved to Dabaa Youth Center in third grade, and we qualified for second class together.”
“After a problem leaving, I decided to stay away from football for a season, then I returned to the Freedom Club and sought to complete my career and secure the club’s classification.”
Work playing soccer
Wika spoke about the circumstances that affected her career, saying: “The economic conditions were not good. My family consists of my father, my mother, a married older brother and two sisters. The priority was always the family. It was difficult to join a club at a young age, so I joined the Damanhour Club when I was 16. “
“I started working in restaurants, a disgusting and falafel restaurant, until after that I became a chef for shawarma and Syrian foods,” he said.
He continued: “I couldn’t balance soccer and my job, because my employers were angry about going to play soccer. I needed both.”
“Whether I play football or work to help my family, I needed both, and this had a negative impact on my football career, because circumstances did not allow me to train well, and the delay in training due to work infuriated the coaches, “he added.
He concluded: “The Enppi club wanted to sign me at 17 and due to lack of skills, I couldn’t go to the test. Circumstances would have changed if I had the opportunity, but helping my family is more important and it’s a good thing, because I trust that God will repay me with good in the future, and I will be able to fulfill my dream in soccer. ” In addition to my success in my job and my dream of having my own business. “
FilGoal.com went to speak with Adel Rahmeh, the former coach of the Beheira national team.
He said: “The team included all elements from all the clubs in Al-Buhaira governorate. The first players to join were Hamdi Fathi, then Hassan Wika.”
He continued: “Hassan Weka is one of the distinguished goalkeepers who lost his chance due to personal circumstances and his job outside of football. This had a negative impact on his career, because he did not deserve to be in the fourth division.”
He completed: “His abilities are different and he needs a suitable environment to find a good point guard in the second division, and who knows what could happen.”
