Corona Control Committee warns: Infections are on the rise … and we have two strains of the virus in Egypt

Dr. Hussam Hosni, head of the Scientific Committee to Combat the Coronavirus Crisis, confirmed that Corona virus infections have increased again during the last period.

“We do not need to implement a closure, but to toughen precautionary measures and impose the most severe punishment on violators,” he said during a telephone interview with the Sada Al-Balad channel, indicating that an immediate fine will be imposed on those who do not wear a muzzle.

He continued: “The health system in Egypt is extremely strong, and the state opened a field hospital with a total of 4,000 beds in July and it was not used,” and commented: “We have hospitals ready to receive the wounded, but the prevention is better than treatment. “

On the causes of the high number of Coronavirus infections, he said: “Cabinet decisions have prohibited indoor gatherings and weddings. Events will only be held in open spaces, with an emphasis on compliance with precautionary measures,” it which indicates that according to the decisions of the committee, the parties will not be held in the hotels during the New Year.

He continued: “Egypt has not closed the door to any vaccine, and we obtained the Chinese vaccine after achieving good results during its experiments in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to giving priority to the Oxford vaccine that achieved good results,” highlighting that all vaccines must be followed until contracting for any vaccine that demonstrates its effectiveness.

Regarding the campaign to question the Chinese vaccine Sinopharm, he said: “We all know the identity of the skeptics, and it is stupid to stop their campaigns, the vaccine is safe”, noting that the effectiveness of the Chinese vaccine reaches 86% .

“86% of the people who will be vaccinated will not contract the virus and 14% will have simple symptoms similar to those of the flu,” he said, indicating that the percentage of moderate and severe cases will be 0% after receiving the vaccine.

He expected the start of the first phase of vaccination with the Coronavirus vaccine this month.

He noted that the Ministry of Health has launched an electronic platform to register those who wish to receive the vaccine, giving priority to doctors, then the elderly and people with chronic diseases, especially those with kidney disease and cancer.

On the new strain of Corona that appeared in Britain, he said: “There are 8 to 10 types of Corona virus, two of them are in Egypt”, indicating that Corona infects the digestive and respiratory systems and other parts of the body.

Hosni recommended starting to treat Corona immediately if radiation infection is confirmed, noting that the president stressed the importance of giving the vaccine free of charge to Egyptians.

He pointed out that the high number of coronavirus infections in Cairo, Alexandria and Giza is due to overcrowding and failure to observe precautionary measures within public transport.
