The US Supreme Court rejected an unprecedented attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 US presidential elections in four swing states, an effort supported by US President Donald Trump.
And the lawsuit, which was filed by the state of Texas before the Supreme Court this week, demanded the annulment of the election results in the states of Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
And the president-elect of the United States, Joe Biden, won all four states.
Nineteen attorneys general (Department of Justice) and 106 members of the Texas Congress supported the lawsuit filed in the Supreme Court to overturn the election result.
But the court rejected this lawsuit on Friday, based on the fact that the legal position of the state of Texas does not allow it to file the lawsuit, which came in the form of a decision issued by the court to reject the request of this US state.
The court’s decision stated that “Texas has not made clear its interest in him and has jurisdiction to sue against the holding of elections in another state.”
The rejection of this request by the Supreme Court adds another failure for Trump, who had previously suggested without evidence that the results of the elections last November would be resolved in the Supreme Court.
Earlier this week, the Supreme Court rejected a lawsuit challenging Democratic candidate Ho Biden’s victory in Pennsylvania, a rejection declared in a one-sentence ruling.
Trump repeated his claim on more than one occasion, without relying on evidence, that the “illegal votes” cost him a second term.
Since the election, Trump and his supporters have filed a number of lawsuits against the results of the 2020 presidential election, but none of them have managed to nullify Biden’s victory.
The Democratic candidate beat President Trump with 306 votes from the US electoral college, compared to 232 votes for Trump. The difference between Biden and Trump in the popular vote was seven million votes for Biden.
