FIFA has released the names of the candidates in the final list of the Best Awards for 2020.
The final roster for the Best Player award featured Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo, Barcelona captain Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski.
And the name of Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool star, was left out of the definitive list, after he was among the primary list, who witnessed the presence of his teammates Sadio Mane and Virgil Van Dyck, along with Sergio Ramos, captain from Real Madrid, Thiago Alcántara, Bayern Munich player last season, now Liverpool, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, Paris San duo. German and Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City’s playmaker.
And being on the list of the best is not the first thing for Mohamed Salah. He ranked third after Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo respectively in 2018. In 2019, he ranked fourth, behind the award-winning Lionel Messi, Van Dyck and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The trio’s top coaches include Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp, Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa, and Bayern Munich manager Hans Flick.
The list for the Puskas award for best goal includes 3 players, namely Heung Son-min from Tottenham, Luis Suárez from Atlético de Madrid and Giorgian de Arasquita from Flamengo. (To see the goals, click on the names of the players).
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Liverpool goalkeeper Alison and Atlético de Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak compete on the short list of candidates for the Best Goalkeeper award.
The winner will be announced on December 17th. A concert will be held in Zurich from FIFA headquarters and broadcast.
