The Court of Appeal in Milan, Italy, confirmed the nine-year prison sentence of Brazilian Robinho and his friend Ricardo Falco for rape.
The Brazilian soccer player and his friend were convicted of raping a 23-year-old girl in Milan.
According to the Brazilian network “Globo Sport”, the court’s decision will be issued within 90 days with reasons to uphold the verdict, and then Robinho’s lawyer and friend will appeal to the Court of Cassation in Italy.
Robinho had signed a contract to join the ranks of the Santos Club for the third time in his career last October, but a week later it was decided to suspend the contract by mutual agreement between the two parties in the context of the condemned case.
One of the sponsors announced the termination of his contract with Santos, out of respect for “women” because the company had not been informed of the club’s signing with the former star of Real Madrid, Milan and Manchester City.
Robinho, 36, had signed for Santos and received a salary of $ 271 a month in the face of the financial crisis hitting the club, which is slightly above the minimum wage in Brazil.
Robinho’s recent experience in Europe came in the Turkish Istanbul Basaksehir jersey and ended after winning the Turkish League title for the first time in the club’s history.
Robinho has played 100 games for Brazil and scored 28 goals, twice crowned the Confederations Cup and won the 2007 Copa América.
