Dr Tariq Shawqi, Minister of Education, published a clarification on the ministry’s decision to grant an exceptional license along with the increase in the number of new infections with the Coronavirus.

Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education issued a circular on reducing the number of workers in the Ministry’s office and its affiliated bodies, as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of the new Corona virus.

The Ministry affirmed, in its letter, the return of the exceptional leave in the ministry and its affiliated organs, provided that the employees of the general office of the Ministry and its affiliated organs are rotated to attend work 3 days a week, and that the three days are determined and fulfilled and cannot be modified except in the interest of the work.

The Ministry stated that in case of absent from the days of attendance under this exceptional leave, it is considered continuous leave for the entire period, granting the employee who returns from abroad an exceptional leave for a period of 15 days from the date of his Return.

The Ministry stressed that the employee who is confirmed to be infected by the Coronavirus, or who is in contact, or suspects of being infected, by bringing the documents that indicate it, will be granted an exceptional license, not less than 14 days, the which is extended without a maximum until recovery is verified.

He indicated that it is allowed for the heads of agencies, bodies and sectors, heads of central departments and general managers to convene employees according to work needs throughout the week, or assign them to work from home.

The Ministry pointed out that these exceptional paid leave must require workers and employees of the ministry and its affiliated bodies to take all preventive measures and wear protective masks from the start of the job to its completion.

And he highlighted the need to punish those who violate preventive measures, while urging occupational health and safety professionals to take the necessary health precautions and precautions.
