Kamal Darwish, head of the Zamalek Senior Committee and former club president, believes that media pressure has been intense on the team in the recent period since the Judiciary Committee took over the club.
Darwish said on Al-Saqr Stadium radio show: “Raise the bottles, the judicial committee came from the house to the fire. We have the best team in Africa with expert testimony, and we must preserve it. We are working on this now.”
He added that “Zamalek did not collapse, but reached the final of the African Champions League. These are the conditions for the matches. The tournaments do not end.”
He noted that “the Committee of Wise Men has included club members for 50 years, to benefit from the Committee of Judges.”
He added: “But the media is very violent and there is a great urgency to report news and details of the club.”
Kamal Darwish concluded: “The Committee of Sages aims to serve the entity, not to work with or against anyone.”
Zamalek heads a judicial committee after the club’s former board of directors, headed by Mortada Mansour, was frozen.
Zamalek lost the African Champions League final to traditional rival Al-Ahly on November 27 and then left the Egypt Cup in the semi-final round.
The final hours of the transfer market in Egypt saw the confusion in Zamalek regarding the signing of Ahmed Al Sheikh and Amir Adel, whom the club withdrew.
Zamalek hired Tunisian Hamza Mathlouthi in preparation for the new season, while Mohamed Sobhi, Mohamed Hassan, Ahmed Kaborya, Ahmed Rifat, Mohamed Antar, Maarouf Youssef and Kabungo Kasungu left him.
Zamalek will kick off the league’s new season by taking on host The Arab Contractors on Saturday.
