The British government said on Sunday that Britain is preparing to become the first country to introduce the Pfizer and Biontech vaccine for Corona this week, which will be available in hospitals before it is distributed to doctors’ clinics.

The first doses will be administered on Tuesday, and the Public Health Authority will give the highest priority to vaccinating people over 80, health workers, nursing home staff and inmates.

In all, Britain has requested 40 million doses, enough to vaccinate 20 million people in the country of 67 million.

It is expected that during the first week around 800 thousand doses will be available.

The Health Ministry said that the initial doses arriving from Belgium are stored in safe places throughout the country where their quality will be checked.

The Pfizer and Biontec vaccine carries cumbersome storage requirements, as it must be stored at a temperature of minus 70 degrees Celsius and last for only five days in a normal refrigerator.

Therefore, the Ministry of Health said that the vaccine will be administered first in 50 hospitals and that thawing the vaccine and preparing it for use takes a few hours.
