The competent investigating authorities decided to imprison businessman Sayed Al-Sweerky, owner of the “Al-Tawhid wa Al-Noor” stores, for 15 days pending investigations, accusing him of having participated in a terrorist group and its objectives.

The defendant was charged with the participation of a terrorist group constituted in violation of the provisions of the law, whose purpose was to request the suspension of the provisions of the constitution and the laws and to prevent state institutions and public authorities from carrying out their activities.

The investigating authorities also charged him with various crimes, including financing a terrorist group with the intention of disturbing the public peace within the framework of the objectives of the terrorist Brotherhood, which aims to undermine trust in the Egyptian state and its institutions. .

The security services had arrested the owner of the Al-Tawhid and Al-Nour chain stores, Sayed Rajab Al-Sweerky, accused of financing the terrorist group, and the relevant authorities will begin to investigate him shortly.

Notably, Al-Sewerki was tried for insulting the Egyptian flag, after the Mohandessin branch of his store sold shoes with the Egyptian flag on the sole.

The Prosecutor’s Office referred Sayed Al-Sweerky, owner of the Al-Tawhid and Al-Nour stores, to a misdemeanor court accused of insulting the Egyptian flag, according to Law No. 41 of 2014 issued by former President Adly Mansour.

In January 2015, the Agouza misdemeanor court, chaired by counselor Mohamed Fathy, and the secretary of Mohamed Abdel Hakim acquitted “Al-Swerky” of the charge of insulting the Egyptian flag and placing it on shoes sold in stores, in the first court session.
