Betso Mosimane, Al-Ahly coach, revealed his first days since he took over the technical direction of the Red Team in place of the Swiss René Fyler.
Musimane said in remarks through the South African newspaper “The Times”: “I felt like I was on a spiral. Some people thought things were easy after Al-Ahly took over and the team won the league championship.”
He added: “There were only five games left in the league and the results were very important to me.”
And the current coach continued with his statements: “The league matches were played under pressure because everyone wants to see, can the management trust this man? Who is this man?”
He continued: “I had to start my own journey by winning matches, so I changed the way we play, and I set up my schedule and to do that you had to get rid of the old shows and style.”
He explained: “For me it was like cleaning the mobile phone. I had to tell people how to implement the new program that I set up and teach them how to do it.”
“We got the league, but the way I played it I don’t think it’s the right way to win the CAF Champions League,” he added.
Musimani said during his remarks: “Thank God things have gone in the right direction. We have not lost a game yet, and our networks have not conceded many goals and we scored too.”
Musimani continued: “I was under pressure. It was difficult for me, because Al-Ahly since 1907 has been hiring coaches from Europe and South America as well as Egyptians.”
And he concluded: “There is also pressure to win matches and compete with both Zamalek and Pyramids, since the conflict between Al-Ahly and Zamalek is like between Sundowns and Caires Chefs.”
Musimani was able to lead Al-Ahly to win the CAF Champions League title recently at the expense of rival Zamalek with two goals to one.
Musimani, at the local level, ended his season with Al-Ahly, achieving the league title, and currently led the team to reach the final round of the Egyptian Cup competition, after beating Al-Ittihad of Alexandria, with two goals to one.
Al-Ahly will face their rival Talaia Al-Jaish next Saturday at the “Burj Al Arab” stadium in the final of the Egypt Cup season (2019-2020).
