The Luxor (south) prosecutor decided (on Wednesday) to release the four defendants in the harassment with a black dog against Zamalek player Mahmoud Abdel-Razek, nicknamed “Shikabala”, with a bail of 500 pounds (32 dollars ), the official told AFP.

“The prosecutor of Itay Al-Baroud in the governorate of Beheira (Nile Delta) released 11 people, on Tuesday, in the incident of harassment in front of cemeteries, with the guarantee of their place of residence,” added the official.

The official indicated that this release is pending investigation, which means that the case has not been completed.

On Sunday, Egyptian authorities arrested 15 people accused of bullying after insulting “Shikabala”, the Interior Ministry announced in a statement.

After club Al-Ahly clinched its ninth African Champions League title by defeating traditional rival Zamalek 2-1 on Friday, fans came out to celebrate their club’s red jerseys and flags in various Egyptian governorates.

Veteran Shikabala (34 years old) scored Zamalek’s goal with effort and a great shot.

Al-Ahly and Zamalek’s matches have always witnessed excessive sensitivity inside and outside the stadium, due to the historic duel between them.

The president of the Zamalek club, at that time, wrote on his official Facebook page: “The club delivered a report to the Attorney General’s Office, supported by a series of offensive videos against the player, to demand punishment of those responsible for several incidents after the last summit party “.

He added that these facts “have underestimated Shikabala in a dishonorable behavior that society and religions reject, intimidating and racism against him in an unacceptable way.”
