Local Development Minister Mahmoud Sharawi ordered governors to implement the new deadlines to firmly close stores, calling for emphasis to be placed on all commercial stores, restaurants and “malls” adhering to the instructions issued in this regard and that apply the necessary legal procedures against those who violate the new opening and closing dates in a decisive way. This is part of the ministry’s follow-up to the decision to regulate the opening and closing hours of stores, restaurants, “cafes”, workshops, handicrafts and commercial “malls”, which will be implemented starting today.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Minister of Local Development directed the governorates to the need for continuous coordination with the security directorates and all interested executive bodies to ensure compliance with the implementation of the closing dates of the new stores, in addition to the need to alert the heads of centers, cities and neighborhoods about the need to activate the role of monitoring committees in each center, city and neighborhood. Intensify surprise campaigns in all commercial premises to ensure the commitment of their owners to apply the new closing dates and enforce the law of non-compliance.
And he called on the operations room of the Ministry of Local Development, in coordination with the operations rooms of the governorates, to continuously monitor the implementation of the opening and closing dates of commercial stores, as indicated by the decision ministerial issued in this regard, in order to preserve the safety and health of citizens, especially in the face of the state’s efforts to limit the spread of the new Corona virus.
The Minister of Local Development called on the owners of shops, restaurants, workshops, “cafes” and crafts to adhere to the opening and closing dates of the new commercial stores so that the sanctions prescribed by law are not applied to the violators of the decision, and highlighted that the regulation of the opening hours of the stores was issued after the agreement of all interested authorities.
He stressed that the new appointments for the stores, which will be implemented starting today, will help the state and the executive and local agencies to achieve discipline on the streets, eliminate randomness and chaos, prevent occupations and traffic congestion in some areas, in addition to preserving the public health of citizens, do not disturb, reduce noise and preserve public facilities and infrastructure of the state. The Minister of Local Development indicated that this decision includes many advantages; These include savings in energy consumption, the organization of working hours in public establishments, and the opportunity for local agencies in neighborhoods, centers, cities, local units and cleaning companies to remove waste and garbage from the streets and improving the level of hygiene in a way that gives a new cultural and aesthetic aspect to the Egyptian governorates.
He also called on citizens to cooperate with all the efforts made by the government to maintain their safety and protection, because the main objective of these decisions is the interest of the citizen and the preservation of state resources.
