Zamalek’s team missed the chance to win the African title for the second time after losing to rivals Al-Ahly one to two goals in a match played at the Cairo Stadium in the CAF Champions League competition ( 2019-2020).
Zamalek tried to win the title in the final of the 2016 edition, but lost to the South African Sundowns, then the white team failed again to crown the title by losing to Al-Ahly, so the balance of “sons of the dead after “stopped in five titles.
Zamalek’s last continental title at the Champions level dates back to the version (2002), by defeating the Moroccan team Raja Casablanca.

Zamalek also gave Tunisian giant Esperance the opportunity to get closer to him, as “Blood and Gold” has four titles (1994-2011-2018-2019).

After competing for the eighth final at the level of the African Champions League competition, Zamalek failed to obtain the sixth title to be the white knight and runner-up for the third time during the copies (1994 – 2016 – 2020).
And the team that has lost the title the most is the Asante Kotoko Club five times (1967 – 1971 – 1973 – 1982 – 1993).
On the other hand, Al-Ahly and Al-Tarji are in second place in losing the final four times.
Al-Ahly lost in the final editions (1983 – 2007 – 2017 – 2018), while Esperance in copies (1999 – 2000 – 2010 – 2012), while Zamalek came in third place by obtaining the runner-up three times.
