Few have trained Al-Ahly and Zamalek throughout history. Among them is the French Patrice Carteron.

He added: “But there are mass clubs outside of Cairo, like Al-Ismaili, which represents Ismailia, Al-Masry, which represents Port Said, and Al-Ittihad, which represents Alexandria, but Cairo is divided between Al -Ahly and Zamalek “.

“In Egypt, especially Cairo, you must be Ahlawiya or Zamalekaweya, you must not be a fan of this or that. Other clubs attract some fans.”

Regarding the difference between Al-Ahly and Zamalek, he said: “They are two different entities, and we clearly notice it in my personalities, Mortada Mansour, president of Zamalek, and Mahmoud Al-Khatib, president of Al-Ahly.”

“Al-Ahly is well organized in the European style, with total stability at all levels,” he added.

As for Zamalek, he is represented by a president who dismisses (referring to his statements). Instability prevails, unfortunately ”.

“But I am happy to have had great moments with both clubs.

And when he asked what he meant by “the lack of stability in Zamalek,” he said: “It is a miracle that Zamalek has performed well in this difficult environment.”

“But today they have more advantages. Al-Ahly was champion (league) again, and Zamalek won the Confederation, the Egyptian Super Cup and the African Super Cup,” he added.

And about the end of the century between Zamalek and Al-Ahly, he said: “The derby is a match to win. These times are incredible when you feel excitement throughout the city, and also outside of it.”

He continued: “When we played the Egyptian Super Cup in Abu Dhabi in a stadium full of white flags, the atmosphere was exceptional and it was a wonderful moment, and the success helped me not to lose these matches.”

He added: “I beat Al-Ahly and we were the first to beat him in the local season.”

He concluded: “I don’t know what the final result of this final will be.”

Carteron coached Al-Ahly in 2018 and lost the African Champions League final to Esperance before leaving after leaving the Arab League.

He returned to Egypt from the Zamalek portal in December 2019, before leaving the team in September 2020, taking advantage of the penalty clause in his contract to take over the formation of the Saudi cooperation.
