Today, Sunday, November 22, the Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Hala Zayed, held a meeting with the head of the Unified Procurement Authority, Major General Bahaa El-Din Zidan, and the head of the Medicines Authority from Egypt, Dr. Tamer Essam, to determine the availability of medicines and medical supplies coinciding with the start of the second wave of the emerging corona virus. .
This was done in the presence of the president of the Arab Company for Medicinal Industries and Medical Supplies “Academy”, Dr. Olft Ghorab, the president of the Chamber of the Drug Industry, Dr. Ahmed El-Ezaby, and several members of the Chamber of the Drug Industry, the Deputy Minister of Financial and Administrative Affairs, Major General Wael Al-Sai, and the Head of the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Affairs Dr. Sahar Farag.
Khaled Mujahid, advisor to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs and official spokesman for the ministry, explained that during the meeting the strategic inventory of medicines and medical supplies was reviewed to cover all needs at the local level, especially medicines for the protocol of treatment of the emerging coronavirus, emergency medicines and medical and preventive supplies.
Mujahid added that the minister stressed the importance of providing the medicines and medical supplies that Egypt provides to the brothers in various countries to help them face crisis, in accordance with the guidelines of the political leadership in this regard.
Mujahid pointed out that the minister discussed with those responsible for the organs the mechanisms and procedures necessary to address the phenomenon of the sale of medicines to patients through electronic applications through the Internet and social media pages, since these applications sell medicines online, which affects the health and safety of citizens, calling on citizens to obtain drugs from pharmacies or health establishments.
He added that the minister thanked the heads of the Unified Procurement Authority, the Egyptian Medicines Authority and the Chamber of Medicines Industry for their cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Population in meeting all the needs of the government and private medical sector. in terms of medicines and medical and preventive supplies to face the emerging coronavirus pandemic, highlighting the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation among all stakeholders to overcome any challenges during the confrontation of the pandemic.
