Today Sunday, Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, met with Major General Dr. Baha El Din Zidan, President of the Unified Procurement Authority, and Dr. Tamer Essam, President of the Egyptian Medicines Authority , to determine the availability of medicines and medical supplies coinciding with the start of the second wave of the emerging corona virus.
This was done in the presence of Dr. Olfat Ghorab, President of the Arab Company for Medicinal Industries and Medical Supplies (Academy), Dr. Ahmed El-Ezaby, President of the Chamber of the Drug Industry, and various members of the Chamber of the Drug Industry, Major General Wael Al-Sai, Deputy Minister for Financial and Administrative Affairs, and Dr. Sahar Farag, Head of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Affairs.
Dr. Khaled Mujahid, Advisor to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs and official spokesman for the ministry, explained that during the meeting the strategic stock of medicines and medical supplies was reviewed to cover all needs at the local level, especially medicines for the emerging coronavirus treatment protocol, emergency medications, and medical and preventive supplies.
Mujahid added that the minister emphasized the importance of providing the medicines and medical supplies that Egypt provides to the brothers in various countries, to support them in facing the crisis, in accordance with the guidelines of the political leadership in this regard.
Mujahid pointed out that the minister discussed with heads of agencies the mechanisms and procedures necessary to address the phenomenon of the sale of drugs to patients through electronic applications through the Internet and social media pages, since these applications sell drugs “online ”Which affects the health and safety of citizens, appealing to citizens. Zayed thanked the heads of the Unified Procurement Authority, the Egyptian Medicines Authority and the Chamber of Medicines Industry for their cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Population in meeting all the needs of the government and private medical sector in terms of medicines and medical and preventive supplies to deal with the emerging coronavirus pandemic, highlighting the importance of ongoing coordination and cooperation among all stakeholders to overcome any issues.
