Alexandria – Muhammad Amer:

The rains were renewed in separate areas in Alexandria, this Saturday morning, accompanied by activity in the movement of the winds and a decrease in temperatures, for the second day in a row.

The wave of bad weather that hits Alexandria coincides with the nucleus of “the rest of the broom”, which began yesterday and lasts for 4 days, accompanied by rain, southwest winds and a drop in temperatures.

Today, Major General Mohamed Al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, ordered to continually raise the level of maximum preparedness and emergencies in all executive bodies, to deal with the instability of the weather conditions.

According to the governor’s decision, the study was suspended today in schools and universities, in addition to the suspension of work in all government departments except water, sanitation, ambulance, electricity and other necessary facilities.

The governor’s decision falls within the framework of providing interested agencies and authorities the opportunity to take the necessary measures and immediately face the repercussions of climate instability.

The governorate of Alexandria asked citizens not to leave their homes except for the most urgent need so that the executive authorities can carry out works to remove rainwater from the affected areas.

In a related context, Captain Tariq Shaheen, president of the Alexandria Port Authority, confirmed that the movement of ships and goods, loading and unloading, continues regularly, despite the wave of bad weather.

The wave of torrential rains that swept the governorate left 5 victims and 6 injured, after the collapse of two properties yesterday, in the customs and Karmoz areas in western Alexandria, in addition to the flooding of a large number of streets and houses.
