On Friday, the al-Gomrok neighborhood in Alexandria witnessed the collapse of a four-story property due to heavy rains, causing one person to be injured, while 4 others are still being searched under the rubble.
The core of “the rest of the broom” continued to hit the coast of Alexandria, today, in a wave that is the most violent since 2015, accompanied by storms, lightning and low temperatures.
The governorate’s operations room had received notification from people stating that the roof of a property had collapsed in the Al-Gomrok neighborhood, and Major General Muhammad al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, moved to the place of communication.
The governor said the torrential rain caused the roof of the third floor, all the way down to the ground floor, to collapse, causing one person to be injured and taken to hospital.
Al-Sharif added that the Civil Protection Forces continue to search for another 4 people under the rubble so far, saying: “We have not confirmed whether they are alive or not.”
The governor indicated that all gas, electricity and water public services have been separated, and all the heavy equipment and cars necessary to remove the debris resulting from the collapse of the property have been paid for and impose a security cordon on all streets adjacent to the property to protect the lives of citizens.
