On Friday, the traffic axes and highways in Alexandria witnessed traffic paralysis and severe densities, due to continued torrential rains and high water levels in the streets.
The traffic jam spread to Abu Qir Road and Alexandria Corniche, the most important traffic arteries in the coastal city, while accumulations of rainwater covered cars on inland streets.
The governor’s office appealed to citizens not to leave the house and leave except when absolutely necessary, so that the executive authorities can sweep and suction the rainwater pools.
The “rest of the broom” hit the coast of Alexandria this Friday morning, accompanied by storms, lightning and a drop in temperatures, which caused the drowning of a large number of streets and neighborhoods of the coastal city, turning them into ponds and lakes .
For his part, Ahmed Jaber, president of the Alexandria Drinking Water Company, indicated that in all the neighborhoods of the governorate, water withdrawals and meetings resulting from heavy rains continue.
The president of the Potable Water Company indicated that the company has paid for all its equipment equipped to face the rain of switches, automobiles and portable pumps, in all meeting areas.
