The “Eagles of Carthage” opened the result with Saif Al-Din Al-Khawi (11), but the land owners managed to match the scale through Faisal Salom (47).

The Tunisian national team started the game with great force, and almost knocked down the Tanzanians in the third minute, with Youssef Al-Maskani alone in goal, but his weak shot hit the goalkeeper’s left post.

The pressure led to an early goal as Egyptian Al-Ahly star Ali Maaloul passed a pass between defenders that Al-Khawi grabbed and fired hard at the ceiling of the goal (11).

The Tunisians continued their attacks on the Tanzanian goal, and almost consolidated the result on more than one occasion, among which Al-Khawi’s ball on the crossbar (25) stands out.

But the second half witnessed a notable retreat by the Carthage Eagles, which allowed the Tanzanian team to launch successive attacks, culminating in a goal when Salom fired a ballistic missile from outside the area, touched the defender and changed direction to end a tie (47).

The give-and-take between the two teams continued throughout the second half, and both teams missed opportunities. The Tanzania team was about to score the second goal in the 90 + 4 minute, and Tunisian efforts would be neglected.

With this victory, Tunisia leads their group with 10 points, Equatorial Guinea with six points, Tanzania is third with four points and Libya is last with three points.

The Tunisian team became the fifth team to qualify for the African Cup of Nations, after Cameroon, host of the tournament, and Senegal, Algeria and Mali, who have qualified from qualifying so far.
