The Egyptian Football Association confirmed the absence of “arbitration justice” in the match of the Egyptian team against its Togolese counterpart last night, Saturday, in the third round of the qualifying phase for the 2021 African Nations Championship in Cameroon, which ended with the victory of the Pharaohs selection without answer.
The Football Association issued an official statement announcing the sending of a letter to the African Football Confederation, in which it affirmed its appreciation for the efforts made by the Confederation to promote African football and competitions, and expressed its objection to some positions arbitration in the match between Egypt and Togo yesterday.
In its intervention, the Egyptian Federation indicated its fear that some arbitration positions negatively affect the effort made by the CAF in favor of the system, indicating that arbitration justice was absent in the match of the Egyptian team yesterday against Togo as part of the third group of African Nations qualifiers.
In its intervention, the federation indicated that this may be due to the lack of adoption of VAR technology at this stage of the competition, which is what worries it about the fate of the matches played for the national team away from home , given his exposure to the lack of arbitration in the matches that take place at home.
The Football Association revealed that it relied on the match tape, which confirms the team’s eligibility for two penalty kicks during yesterday’s match against Togo, two penalties in the 56th and 90th minutes of the match.
Egypt topped the Group G table with 5 points, the same as the Comoros national team, while Kenya was third with 3 points and Togo was last with one point.
The Egyptian team face their Togolese counterpart at the latter’s stadium on November 17, in the fourth round of the qualifiers for the 2021 African Nations Championship.
