Spain’s Sergio Ramos equaled the record for the most international matches at the European level, registered in the name of former Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, after participating in the Dutch match.

Ramos, 35, participated on Wednesday as a substitute in his country’s friendly match against the Netherlands, which ended with a positive 1-1 draw.

According to the chain “Opta”, specialized in statistics and figures for footballers, the Dutch match was ranked 176th in the career of “top scorer” with the Spanish team, equivalent to the European record set by Buffon.

And Ramos is just eight games away from equaling the world record set in the name of Egyptian soccer icon, retired star Ahmed Hassan, who has played 184 international matches for the “Pharaohs” team.

It should be noted that Ramos began his international career in 2005 at just 18 years old, and is currently the eighth best scorer in the history of the Spanish team, with 23 goals.
