The second phase of the elections to the 2020 Chamber of Deputies ended yesterday Sunday, after continuing for 5 consecutive days, three of them abroad, November 4, 5 and 6, and two days inside yesterday and the first yesterday November 7 and 8, waiting to count the votes of the voters and announce the results of the preliminary commissions and the final result.
The electoral process took place in the second phase in 13 governorates, namely: Cairo, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Gharbia, Kafr El Sheikh, Sharkia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai and South Sinai.
In the single system, 2,085 candidates competed in 70 individual districts in this phase, while the number of candidates in the roster system in the second phase was 284 main candidates.
Regarding the list system, Egypt’s National List competed with the Independent Alliance list in the Cairo Sector, South and Central Delta district for 100 seats, while in the Eastern Delta Sector, the battle between the Egypt’s National List and the Sons of Egypt list held for 42 seats.
The electoral map of the second phase, according to the new district law, is as follows:
1- Cairo Governorate It includes 19 electoral districts with 62 seats in Parliament and 31 seats in the single system.
2- Eastern Province It includes 8 electoral districts with 42 seats, 21 seats in the list system, 21 seats in the individual system.
3- Kafr Al Sheikh GovernorateIt includes 4 electoral districts, which have 19 seats in Parliament, including 9 seats in the list system and 10 seats in the individual system.
4- Western ProvinceIt includes 7 electoral districts, with 30 seats in Parliament, 16 seats in the list system, 14 seats in the individual system.
5- Menoufia Governorate It includes 6 districts assigned to her 24 seats, with a list system of 13 seats, and for a single assigned 11 seats.
6- Dakahlia Governorate It includes 10 electoral districts with 38 seats, 17 seats in the list system and 21 seats in the individual system.
7- Damietta Governorate It includes two electoral districts with 8 seats in Parliament, 4 on the list and 4 individually.
8- Port Said Governorate It includes two circuits assigned for 4 places, two places on the list, and the same for individual.
9- Al-Galubeiah Province It includes 6 departments with 30 seats, 14 seats on the list and 16 individual seats.
10- Ismailia Governorate It includes 3 electoral districts with 9 seats in Parliament, 4 seats on the list and 5 individually.
eleven- Suez Governorate A constituency includes 4 seats, 2 for the list and 2 for the individual.
12- North Sinai Governorate It includes two electoral districts, which have 7 seats in Parliament, 5 seats on the list and 2 individual seats.
13- South Sinai Governorate Includes two departments with 4 seats, 2 listed and 2 individually.
The House of Representatives is made up of 568 members, elected by direct, secret, general vote of 284 seats in the single system and 284 seats by closed and absolute lists, and the President of the Republic has the right to appoint a percentage that does not exceed 5% of the members.
