The World Health Organization believes that humanity must prepare for a new epidemic, noting that this issue will be on the agenda during the completion of the 73rd annual conference of the World Health Assembly, according to the Russian news agency TASS.

A statement from the organization noted that the international community needs to “prepare for a new epidemic now.”

She said: “We have seen over the past year that countries with a strong health infrastructure related to emergency preparedness were able to move quickly to contain and control the SARS-Cove-2 virus.”

At the second section of the Assembly’s seventy-third session, the first part of which was held in Geneva last May, a decision will be taken “on strengthening preparedness for urgent health cases.”

The seven-page draft document urges countries to “prioritize the highest political level” to improve emergency preparedness.

It also indicates the need to ensure “adequate remuneration” for health professionals, the importance of training health workers and “strengthening the role of local medical workers.”

The global organization highlights the need to ensure that “all countries are better equipped to detect and respond to (Covid-19) and other serious infectious diseases.”

On the other hand, the World Health Organization believes that the world community can defeat the epidemic through science and solidarity.

The statement said that the coronavirus epidemic, although a global crisis, “many countries and cities have managed to prevent infection and control its transmission using a comprehensive and fact-based approach.
