Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool player, confirmed his joy with the victory his team achieved at the expense of Italian Atlanta in the Champions League.

In statements posted on Liverpool’s official website, Salah indicated that his equalization of Steven Gerrard’s number to become the team’s all-time leading scorer in the Champions League is something that makes him proud.

Salah said: “I am certainly very happy to reach this number, Gerrard is a Liverpool legend, which makes me very proud of what I got.”

He continued: “But I said before, the most important thing is the team, so I am happy to score goals that help Liverpool win, this is the most important thing.”

And about the possibility of winning the Champions League again, Salah said: “The competition is difficult, I don’t want to pressure us.”

He explained: “So far we are doing well in the English Premier League as well as in the Champions League, in Liverpool we are fighting for everything. This is our job.”

He concluded: “Why do we push ourselves? I’m sure we will fight in every championship. We want to win every title, and I’m optimistic that we can.”

Notably, Salah scored a goal against Atlanta to reach goal 21 for Liverpool in the Champions League, matching Gerrard’s number.
