The Federation of Wales comments on the Giggs incident

The Welsh Football Association has issued a brief statement regarding the alleged assault by Ryan Giggs, head of the national team, on his girlfriend.

On its website the Welsh Football Association only said: “We are aware of the alleged incident involving national team coach Ryan Giggs.”

“The Wales Football Association and Ryan Giggs have mutually agreed that he will not participate in the next international camp.”

He continued: “Our agreed priority is to prepare the team for the next international matches.”

And Abizaid: “Robert Page, will assume responsibility in the next three games against the United States, Ireland and Finland.”

He continued: “We will not comment further at this time.”

European reports confirmed this morning, Tuesday, that Giggs, the former Manchester United assistant coach, was arrested on charges of assaulting his girlfriend.

For its part, the newspaper “The Sun” said that the coach of the Wales national team has been released on bail, and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported that the Welsh Football Association canceled the press conference scheduled for Tuesday by Ryan Giggs to discuss upcoming international friendlies for the Wales national team.

It’s worth noting that Giggs took over the leadership of Wales in January 2018 and his contract expires at the end of June 2022.
