More European countries are moving towards stricter restrictions related to fighting the coronavirus, and infection rates are rising sharply.

In this context, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte proposed that Parliament impose a night curfew at the level of his country, while restricting people’s travel between regions, closing museums and activating the distance education mechanism for secondary students. After Parliament discusses his proposal and if it approves it, it is expected to come into force later this week.

Today Germany took further action, including announcing the closure of bars, restaurants, gyms and art galleries for the remainder of November.

And in Portugal, the prime minister asked the president to declare a state of emergency, a measure that the authorities have not used since last spring.

Meanwhile, the Bosnian capital Sarajevo called for urgent assistance from retired medical personnel to urge them to return to work and help tackle the new wave of the epidemic.

England is reportedly preparing to close out a new year starting next Thursday.
