The Duke of Cambridge fell ill with Covid-19 earlier this year, palace sources told the BBC.
The test results are believed to have arrived in April, roughly coinciding with the injury to her father, the Prince of Wales.
According to the “Sun” newspaper, which first published the story, Prince William, at the age of 38, kept his infection a secret to avoid causing anxiety in the nation.
Kensington Palace, where Prince William’s office and residence are located, declined to officially comment on the report.
Prince William, second in line to the throne, did not tell anyone about the result of his test, because “important things were happening and he did not want to worry anyone,” according to the Sun newspaper.
The newspaper added that the palace doctors took care of him and that the prince followed the government’s instructions to submit to isolation at Unmere Hall, the family’s Norfolk residence.

Prince William reportedly made 14 video calls and phone calls during the month of April.
