Books – Muhammad Shaban:

At seven o’clock this morning, Sunday, traffic flows into car traffic passing over the Abu Sir bridge in downtown Badrashin, south of Giza.

A few minutes would have changed the mood. A horrible accident is like a dark nightmare that covered the place, that was covered with the blood of the victims, between the dead and the wounded.

A few steps from the bridge, the driver of the silver Suzuki pickup slowed down before crossing the street en route to take a group of children to the Azhari Institute in Badrasheen.

On the opposite side, a heavy truck drives to haul trash on its way to the street with Suzuki in the corner.

Everything is going well. The two drivers set off all the way before the clock stopped in a heartbreaking moment. A speeding white minibus collides with a Suzuki that is trapped between a whetstone.

The little car turned into a piece of garbage with the blood of its occupants. The front of the minibus was destroyed and the transport was not affected.

Passersby and merchants flocked from everywhere, each offering a helping hand. Neighbors tried to rescue Suzuki’s passengers, mostly children, while the minibus evacuated the passengers.

The siren of the successive ambulances caught everyone’s attention. The blood and debris from the two cars was the last remaining part of that accident.

The accident resulted in the deaths of: Muhammad Omar Fathy, 9, Amal Saber, 45, in addition to the Suzuki driver.

Fourteen others were injured, including serious cases: Shurooq Sharif Abd al-Fattah, 9, Mahmoud Othman Sadiq, 38, Naji Abbas Muhammad, 72, Abd al-Rahman Ahmad Abd al-Rahman, 43, Aziza Abd al-Karim, 20, Rami Mahmoud Muhammad, 35, and an unidentified 9-year-old boy.

The list of wounded included: Hamza Sayed Sabri, 10, and his brother Bilal, 6, Abdullah Adel Sabri, 8, Samir al-Sayyid Abu Saree, 44, Muhammad Zaghloul, 32, Medhat Faris Muhammad, 43, and Majid Abdullah Azab, 60 years.

Police forces under the leadership of Major Mohamed Tablieh, head of the al-Badrasheen Investigation Department, held the minibus and transport drivers to listen to their statements after emptying the surveillance cameras to declare their responsibility in the accident.
