The credit for the crowning of the Al-Ahly league shield goes to the Swiss Rene Weiler, former coach of the team, who led the Red Genius to win the title 7 rounds before the end of the competition, for the fifth consecutive season and for the 42nd time in its history.
The Al-Ahly club hired René Fyler in August 2019 to succeed Uruguayan coach Martin Lasarte, and the Red Castle management managed to extend the Swiss coach’s contract for a new year after the impressive levels he presented with the team.
Fyler won the Al-Ahly Planning Committee’s bet, and led the red team in 30 league games for the 2019/2020 season, to add 79 points out of 90 possible, after winning 25 games against a draw in four games and losing a match.
The Swiss manager contributed 89% to Al-Ahly’s record, as the highest score achieved by any team in Premier League history since its launch in the 1948/1949 season, after the team at the end of the competition will score 89 points.
Fyler also achieved with Al-Ahly the second best start in the history of the club in the League with 16 consecutive victories, one more than the record of Portuguese Manuel José in the 2004/2005 season, when he scored 17 consecutive victories.
Al-Ahly enjoyed a magnificent attacking power with Fyler, as the team scored 67 goals in 30 games through 17 players from all positions on the field, for which Al-Ahly achieved at the end of the competition the second best scoring record in tournament history with 74 goals.
But at the beginning of last October, Fyler took advantage of a clause in his contract that granted him free exit due to special circumstances, before Al-Ahly decided to terminate the contractual relationship with Fyler in accordance with the terms of his contract with the club, and contract with the South African Pitso Musimane.
Musimani came to Al-Ahly, who is the league champion, to play for the team four games without being defeated, the last of which was against Al-Tale’aa Al-Jaysh, where he won 3-0, before celebrate with the coaching staff and players of the Liga Escudo on Saturday.
Fyler was absent from the stages of the celebrations for the coronation of Al-Ahly’s 42nd league title, but was present in the letters sent by Pitso Mosimane, who did not miss the opportunity to thank the Swiss coach, as he stated after the Talaia match Al-Jaish: “I thank Fyler, because he is the one who led the team to crown the league.”
Mosimane once again paid tribute to Failer through his Twitter account, where he posted a photo of him with the Swiss coach and commented on it, saying: “I show my respect to Mr. Fyler. They called me just to finish the games he left behind. He had already decided on the league championship, and I took care of everything. It is finished correctly. “
