The World Health Organization feared that the number of new cases of the new Corona virus would increase significantly over the next few weeks in Egypt, as a result of lax application of precautionary measures and the entry into the winter season.
The Director of the Information Management Program of the Emergency Program in the Regional Office of the World Health Organization, Dr. Pierre Nebeth, reviewed Corona’s developments in Egypt and said that “since the beginning of last August, the number of cases has stabilized above 100 cases per day on average, and in mid-August the number of deaths has remained stable. “
This was the case at the press conference held by the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, next Thursday; On the developments of the new Corona pandemic “Covid-19” in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
He added: “It seems that hospitals have the capacity to deal with cases and critical cases.”
However, “Nepeth” noted that the amount of Corona tests has decreased in Egypt recently, adding: “We have a high percentage of discovered cases that are reserved in hospitals, and therefore low cases are not reported.”
He said: “The cases discovered mean that the virus is still present and the situation is under control according to the number of reported cases, despite the lack of strict physical distancing procedures and the non-commitment of citizens to wear masks.” .
He continued: “The lack of respect by citizens for these measures may be due to the feeling of the end of the pandemic and ignorance of the situations that surround them, but this situation is worrying, because we are entering the winter season and we see forms of interaction , which can lead to a significant increase in the number of cases. “
