Raja coach Jamal Al-Salami is using three young players from the team’s roster to face Zamalek in the African Champions League next Sunday, in the event that the roster is incomplete due to those infected with it. Coronavirus, according to Moroccan reports.
Zamalek’s match was supposed to be played against Raja in the second leg of the CAF Champions League semifinal on Saturday, but the cases of Corona in Raja and the Moroccan Ministry of Health banning the team’s travel made that the match be postponed until November 1, by decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Moroccan national team newspaper reported that the Moroccan team will undergo a critical medical scan this Tuesday, in which the players who will be part of the mission that will travel to Cairo will be determined.
The report noted that the African Football Confederation allowed Raja to add three young players, which was actually done when Al-Salami joined the team preparing for the showdown: Monem Al-Bakary, Muhammad Naim and Osama Soukhan.
Al-Salami also sought the help of Zakaria Al-Habti, who was on the African list, according to the report.
On Monday, Said Wahbi, the official spokesman for the Moroccan Raja, made it clear that his club was waiting for many players to recover from the Corona virus on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Wehbe told Ontime Sport: “The result of the last swab showed that one player had been injured and one player had recovered, which means we now have 15 confirmed cases.”
“The entire team is currently in quarantine, and we are monitoring the situation hour by hour and day by day,” he added.
Wehbe continued: “We are expecting many cases of recovery from the Corona virus on Tuesday.”
And he added: “The exact date to travel to Egypt will be determined based on the results of the smear on Tuesday and the swab on Wednesday.”
And the first leg ended with Zamalek beating Raja with an unanswered goal.
The winner of the Egyptian-Moroccan showdown will meet Al-Ahly in the continental final on November 6 at the Cairo Stadium.
Al-Ahly renewed their 3-1 victory over Wydad in the second leg in Cairo, after winning in Casablanca with two free goals.
