The Argentine Miguel Ángel Jamondi, coach of the Moroccan Wydad, confirmed that he will avoid the errors that occurred in the face of going against Al-Ahly, highlighting the ability of the team to reverse the balance with what he will present in the return match on Friday for the night.
Al-Ahly will host Wydad at Cairo Stadium at exactly nine o’clock tonight, Friday, in the second leg of the semi-final round of the Champions League.
Jamondi said, in statements released by the Moroccan newspaper, “The Moroccan National Team:” What happened in the first leg was really strange, and I would not like to delve into its details again, because the chapters that occurred at the last moment confused and shook decisions, plans and tactics.
He added: “It was natural for Wydad to appear this way, and I am responsible for all that of course, but that sting will not be repeated with me, so I will not be bitten twice by the same hole.”
He continued: “The unfortunate thing is that I followed all the analyzes that were done in Wydad as if I were a ghost in the game. We wasted a penalty that could have completely changed the reality of the confrontation, and with it, the current debate.
He explained: “We missed a lot of opportunities, and the proof is that their goalkeeper, Mohamed El-Shenawi, was chosen as the star of the match, which means we put him under pressure and tests.”
He continued: “I have nothing more to add. Football. Our return to the stage was out of the ordinary. We need a goal early in today’s game, as they did on our soil, and then everything is subject to change.”
The Wydad coach concluded his remarks by saying: “They know very well that the game will not be easy for them, and we come to the Cairo game as if it were a final. We must win to win their title, and that’s why we came.”
Al-Ahly will enter the second leg, armed with the precious victory they achieved in the first leg a few days ago in Casablanca, with two unanswered goals, scored by Mohamed Magdi Afsha and Ali Maaloul.
Al-Ahly are looking forward to deciding to qualify for the African Champions League final for the thirteenth time in their history, and moving towards reclaiming their favorite title to consolidate their record for the number of Champions League victories, which has won 8 times.
