Today, Monday, the Official Gazette published the approval of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to issue Law No. 205 of 2020 on combating acts of prejudice to examinations, which was approved by the House of Representatives.

According to the law, whoever prints, publishes, disseminates or promotes by any means, exam questions and answers, or any evaluation system in the different Egyptian and foreign educational stages, with the intention of defrauding or disturbing the general exam system , will be punished with imprisonment not less than two years nor more than 7 years and a fine of not less than 100,000 pounds and not more than 200,000 pounds.

The attempt to commit any of the events set forth in the first paragraph is punishable by imprisonment of not less than one year and a fine of not less than 10,000 pounds and not more than 50,000 pounds, or one of the two penalties.

In accordance with the law, the student who commits fraud or attempted fraud or any of the acts provided for in the two previous paragraphs, will be deprived of taking the exam in the function he performs and the next in the same year, and will be considered Failed in all subjects, and in the case of equivalent examinations, which are awarded by the schools. In foreign countries, the student is deprived of taking the material exams necessary for equivalency according to the Egyptian system, two consecutive rounds.

In all cases, a sentence of confiscation of the seized property, object of the crime, will be issued.
