The club said in a statement: “Santos and Robinho announce that they have agreed to terminate their contract on October 10, so that the player can concentrate on the ongoing case against him in Italy.”
NOTE TO THE PRESS
Santos Futebol Clube and the athlete Robinho report that, by mutual agreement, they decided to suspend the validity of the contract signed on October 10 so that the player can focus exclusively on his defense in the process that is taking place in Italy.

In 2017, an Italian court sentenced Brazilian star Robinho to nine years in prison after he was found guilty of sexual assault.
The Brazilian star was convicted, along with five other people, for sexually assaulting an Albanian girl in a nightclub in 2013, when the Brazilian international was defending the colors of Milan.
Robinho, 36, began his professional career with Santos in 2002 before joining Real Madrid in 2005, and from there to Manchester City in 2008, where the English club loaned him to Santos in 2010.
With the end of his loan, he moved to Milan, which in turn loaned him to Santos in the 2014-2015 season.
Robinho played for China’s Gwangju Evergrande in the 2015-2016 season, then returned to Brazil to defend the colors of Atlético Mineiro (2016-2018), before moving to Turkey to play for Sivaspor (2018-2019) and Basaksehir ( 2019-2020).
