Shocking confessions of the two accused of the murder of the Maadi girl: “We just wanted the bag … and we found out about her death on Facebook.

The Public Ministry confronted the accused of the murder of Maryam, the “Maadi girl”, with the statements of the friend of the victim, the eyewitness and the owner of the minibus, and their confessions in the police report.

The two defendants admitted in the investigations of the Prosecutor’s Office that they committed the crime of robbing Mary under duress and causing her death, and said that they did not intend to kill her and did not know of her death except through the media and Facebook at night.

The first suspect, the “perpetrator” who seized Maryam’s purse, said that as soon as he saw the victim standing on the road, he referred to the second defendant “the driver” and demanded that he approach her.

The defendant added: “I wanted to squeeze the bag and run as usual. It was not my intention to die.”

The defendant admitted: “Every time we grabbed the bags and ran, and we did not intend to kill her, I did not know that she was putting the bag on her shoulders, I thought she was holding it to one shoulder and I would easily pull it.”

The two defendants said they fled quickly after the bag was seized.

They confirmed what was stated in the investigation report that they had formed a gang to steal the bags and telephones of citizens and passers-by in the street by way of kidnapping.

They added that they were using a minibus, with blanks to cover, to move between the streets and hunt down their citizens.

They said they choose women and girls to steal their bags with kidnapping.

They indicated that they choose quiet streets and not crowded with pedestrians, in order to facilitate their escape after the seizure of bags and mobile phones for citizens and passers-by on the streets.

The two defendants revealed that, on the day of the accident, they got on a minibus, one of them is a driver, and began looking for a victim of their robbery on the streets of Maadi, where they were picked up on 9th street in Maadi. The other defendant seized the bag, but the bag caught the girl and she fell to the ground, and the two defendants managed to snatch the bag and fled.
