Press reports revealed that Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo asked his team management to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen during the upcoming summer transfer market.
Ter Stegen has a contract that expires in the summer of 2022 and has asked the administration to increase his salary, but the matter has been complicated in light of the financial crises left by the Corona pandemic.
But the Spanish reports confirmed that the German goalkeeper does not mind reducing his financial demands to be able to stay at Barcelona.
According to Calcio Mercato, Ter Stegen refused to leave the ranks of Juventus and did not respond to Cristiano Ronaldo’s request and is willing to extend his mandate with Barcelona until 2025.
He also turned down another offer from Inter, Italy, to be Samir Handanovic’s successor, preferring to stay at the “Camp Nou” castle and play alongside Lionel Messi.
Press reports confirmed that Bayern Munich and Chelsea tried to sign Ter Stegen last summer, but the player was in negotiations on the issue of extending his contract.
The 28-year-old arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2014 from Borussia Monchengladbach and continued for two seasons as a substitute goalkeeper in La Liga and main in the Champions League.
After the departure of Claudio Bravo to Manchester City, the German became Barcelona’s goalkeeper and one of the team’s best stars.
