1- Egyptian artist of Circassian origin, his full name is “Ahmed Hafez Mazhar”, he was born on October 8, 1917 in the Abbasiya neighborhood of Cairo. He has four children, they are “Shehab – Nevin – Iman – Riham”.

2- Ahmed Mazhar graduated from War College in 1938 with Presidents Anwar Sadat and Gamal Abdel Nasser, then he joined the infantry and cavalry, and graduated until he took command of the Equestrian School, as he participated in the Palestine War of 1948.

3- Mazhar within the Military Academy was known as “Prince Mazhar” for his courtesy, ethics and extreme discipline, in addition to his culture in various fields of life as he spoke several foreign languages fluently. He was also a founding member of the Harafish Association headed by writer Naguib Mahfouz, which includes the elite one-book society stars. Artists and journalists.

4- Ahmed Mazhar’s relationship with art began when Zaki Tulaimat presented him in the play “The Homeland” in 1948, and then he broke into the world of cinematographic art from the equestrian gate when director Ibrahim Ezz El-Din chose him to participate in the film The Rise of Islam in 1951 AD

5- The real step in acting was through his two friends in the military, the writer Yusef al-Sibai, and the director Izz al-Din Zulfiqar, who assigned him the role of “Prince Alaa” in the movie “Redeem my heart “in 1957, and during the filming of this film, he had difficulties obtaining licenses for weapons in the army, he turned to his friend Abdel Nasser to come up with a solution. Abdel Nasser persuaded him to pursue acting, and that he could serve his country as an artist as an army officer would. Mazhar decided to retire with the rank of brigadier general of the army, joking: “I went to Nasser to get a permit and he persuaded me to fire.”

6- Ahmed Mazhar’s journey continued and he became a prominent movie star after he resigned from the armed forces with the rank of colonel and removed his military clothing in 1956 AD, then he worked as secretary general in the Supreme Council for Care for the Arts and Literature, and featured many distinguished roles in film and television, as well as emerging in historical and emotional roles.

7- The late artist received the title of “The Knight of Egyptian Cinema” after leaving a legacy of some 135 films. The most prominent of these films are: “Shaimaa”, “Doaa Al Karawan”, “Returning my heart”, “Thieves but cute” and “Al Nasser Salah El Din”. “Soft Hands”, “Black Glasses”, “Jamila Bou Harid”, “My Daughter and the Wolves”, “Shafiqa and Metwally” and “Mim Empire”, while “The Sixth Threshold” was his last work in 1994.

8- He also directed two films that he himself wrote, namely “Confused Souls” in 1968 and “Habiba Other” in 1976 AD. He participated in the presentation of more than 20 series, among them “Goofy Conscience Hikmat”, “Against the Stream “,” Layali al-Helmiyya “and” No God “. Except God, “Outside the Biography”, “The Masked Knight” and “The Age of Knights”.

9- The artist “Ahmed Mazhar” during his artistic career won more than 40 local and international awards, among them the first actor award for the film “The Virgin Wife”, the acting award for his role in the film The Last evening, and the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser’s first-class Order of Sciences and Arts in 2003. 1969, and was honored at the Cairo International Film Festival.

10- They were not united by a single cinematographic work, but Ahmed Mazhar presented together with Suad Hosni many distinguished classics such as: “The olive branch”, “The wedding night”, “The second meeting”, “Shafiqa and Matwali” and others. basically.

Mazhar, while filming one of the Cinderella movies, was surprised by her insistence that her first name be in the movie collection.

Egyptian film fares also realized that their shares on the Nujoom Stock Exchange were declining at a slight rate over the years, and this is not their negligence, but the insignificance of the level of movies and directors. in general, and he also noticed that the roles offered to him do not satisfy his artistic inclinations.

11-Souad’s words were not the only reason; Rather, the decision to reduce the salaries of all artists except Souad and Nadia Lotfi came to increase their determination to retire from art, but after fulfilling all their cinematographic obligations.

12- Mazhar decided, according to press statements in 1972, to open a large “car repair” workshop in his home with the help of some of his friends. As he was known for his passion for auto mechanics and repair, he also considered opening a photography studio after obtaining a quality certificate from the famous cinematographer Ahmed Khorshid.

13- But it seems that Mazhar has withdrawn from this decision and spent many years participating in outstanding film and television works, he also forgave Cinderella and joined her in 1978 in “Shafiqa and Metwally”.

14- Artist Ahmed Mazhar used to spend Eid in a distinctive way from the rest of the year, as he used to postpone his artistic works and photographic engagements from the night of Eid, to travel with his family in the estate on the first day of Eid, and enjoy the country atmosphere and devour the types of stuffed pigeons and “roasted” chickens.

As for the rest of the Eid days, Mazhar distributed them evenly. Where he waits for his friends and returnees at his home in Cairo for the second day, while he goes on a family trip to the Red Sea on the third day.

The Old Fares colleagues participated in the Eid program. The fourth day was spent meeting fellow soldiers, during which they reminisced about past memories of Eid days during military service.

15- Being her sister did not make the artist Ahmed Mazhar intervene to support her sister in her artistic career, on the contrary, the artist Fatima Mazhar began her career gradually, either in film or television, without the help of anyone.

Fatima Hafez Mazhar was born in Cairo on January 2, 1943, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts, Department of English, then a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts, and perhaps that particular point was the reason for the earlier disagreement between her and her brother, the great artist Ahmed Mazhar.

Mazhar always rejected his sister’s artistic work before completing his university studies, but she became attached to the two together, and began working in television since 1967, but as soon as he obtained a university degree, the Egyptian artist expressed his joy and satisfaction for that result.

Fatima realized that her brother was right. If I had responded to his point of view, he would finish his studies too soon. His insistence was foolish, as he confessed to Al-Kawakeb magazine in 1972 when he said: “My hidden insistence was foolish; My brother is the one who always took care of me and raised me, as an artist I benefited a lot from him, although he did not direct me directly, but now I just have a lot of respect and appreciation for him.

16- He stated that he had fallen a lot from his horse, either during training or in massive tournaments, but he was never afraid of falling, “if not, I would never ride my horse again”, and in his private memory two were printed falls he couldn’t forget.

The first was when he was a noncommissioned officer in the army and during one of the military championships and at the last checkpoint and he was about ten meters from the end, he fell from his horse and thought at the time that he was inevitably a loser, but honoring the winners he was surprised that he got third place among them “But my astonishment disappeared when I learned that I was left out of the finish line and the rider’s marks were not deducted from me.”

The second fall was during the filming of the appearance of a report in which he was training in a fall that he performed in front of the camera and fell on her from above the horse, but suddenly his balance was altered while running and he lost his balance and He fell before he was prepared to fall unharmed, and it’s funny how he lost his memory after having fallen for a full seven hours.

17- On May 8, 2002 AD, the artist “Ahmed Mazhar” died at the age of 84 in the Al-Safa Hospital of Mohandessin in Cairo, after a trip to fight with the disease, and his severe chest infection and his accelerated heart rate, and he was buried in the Bab al-Wazir cemetery near the Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi Citadel.
