Virgil Van Dyck, the world’s most expensive former defender, made one of his worst games since joining Liverpool in 2018, during a game the Reds lost to Aston Villa 2-7 on Sunday.
And after becoming famous in his first two seasons with Liverpool for his ability to read attackers and his ability to cut the ball and avoid dribbling until the idea of his dribbling became an “almost impossible” topic, the Dutch giant defender appeared in Aston Villa’s game at an unstable level, and was subjected to humiliating dribbling.
And social media pioneers widely released a video of Aston Villa star, English international Jack Gralich, who was “dancing” Van Dyck left and right, before swinging the ball between his feet to pose in front of the Aston forward. Villa, who shot it at Liverpool’s goal.
In his first comment on his performance and the loss of his team, Van Dyck said after the game in a press release: “Losing like this is difficult. At first we say well what Aston Villa did, it is to be commended.”
He continued: “It was one of the offers where we were not at our full level, from start to finish. We had to stop the goals that we had received, and we could also take advantage of the opportunities that we had better.”
He continued: “Overall we’re all disappointed. We didn’t have to lose on these numbers, but it’s a matter of coming together and making sure this doesn’t happen again.”
