A US court sentenced Claire Bronfman, daughter of Canadian billionaire Edgar Bronfman, to 6 years and 9 months in prison, in a case involving the US sex cult NXIVM.

Bronfman was found guilty of fraud and the defendant confessed to harboring an illegal resident in the country in exchange for “work and services” on his behalf.

It should be noted that Claire, daughter of former Seagram chairman Edgar Bronfman, was arrested in 2018, along with other defendants, including American actress Allison Mack in the NXIVM case.

Bronfman was under house arrest for the past two years, while the Brooklyn court heard his case.

NXIVM is reported to have been created in the second half of the 1990s by Keith Ranier.

The foundation claimed to offer courses for personal growth, and subsequently the foundation and its founder faced charges of fraud.

Research materials say that the Ranier Foundation has a sectarian religious character for the sex cult, and that it has been exploiting, extorting and sexually defrauding women.
