Liverpool FC announced that midfielder Thiago Alcantara has been infected with the Corona virus and is in isolation.

Liverpool said in an official statement: “Thiago Alcantara’s test results have confirmed that he is infected with the emerging corona virus, and he is currently isolating himself according to the necessary instructions.”

Liverpool added in their statement: “The club will continue with all protocols related to COVID-19 and Thiago will remain in self-isolation for the required period of time.”

Thiago joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich last month in a deal worth up to £ 25m.

Thiago made his debut for the Premier League champions in a 2-0 win over Chelsea on September 20.

Alcantara was surprisingly absent yesterday from Liverpool against Arsenal, who saw the Reds win by three.

Liverpool won their third consecutive victory in the English Premier League this season, after beating 0/1 to a 3/1 victory over Arsenal on Monday.

Liverpool took revenge on Arsenal, who won England’s Charity Shield Cup weeks ago, by beating Liverpool on a penalty shoot-out (5/4), after a 1-1 draw, and Arsenal also beat Liverpool 2/1 last July in the English Premier League.

Liverpool raised their score to 9 points, at the top of the English Premier League with Leicester City and Everton.

Liverpool and Arsenal will meet again next Thursday in the round of 16 of the English Professional League Cup, then Liverpool will play Aston Villa and Arsenal will play Sheffield United in the English Premier League.
