Negotiations between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia became complicated after the latter announced the end of the initial filling of the Renaissance dam, without reaching an agreement with downstream countries.
The United States stepped into the crisis line, as it decided to stop its $ 130 million aid to Ethiopia, days after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s visit to Sudan.
So far, the three countries have not reached a final agreement on the filling and operation of the Renaissance dam, despite international and African mediation.
