Al-Hilal Club filed an official protest against the AFC’s decision to consider the team withdrawing from the AFC Champions League and canceling all of its results.
Al-Hilal entered his last match in the group stage of the Champions League with only 11 players including 3 goalkeepers, while item 6 of the tournament list is fair in the fact that the team in the match has 13 players on the match list.
The AFC based its decision to exclude Al Hilal because the Saudi team failed to provide 13 players to compete in the UAE’s Shabab Al-Ahly Dubai match.
In the statement it announced after Al Hilal’s exclusion, the AFC added that according to Article 4.3 of the regulations for AFC tournaments during the Corona virus pandemic, the Saudi team was deemed to withdraw from the tournament, especially since the federation regulations allow the registration of 35 players while the Saudi team scored only 30 players. Of them 27 players attended.
Most of the Al Hilal team’s mission was infected with the Coronavirus, as the AFC was allowed to add goalkeepers to replace goalkeepers who tested positive.
The AFC also worked with its Qatari soccer counterpart to facilitate the arrival of substitute goalkeepers, along with other players who were on the initial roster and did not travel with the team, as well as other officials, and as soon as possible to Doha.
The Saudi Al Hilal Club mission will begin to return to Riyadh from Saturday, provided that another trip is scheduled over the next two days for those present at the quarantine headquarters due to their contagion of the virus.
