On Thursday, the Egyptian Interpol returned to Cairo 3 suspects who wanted to be arrested and taken in the rape case of the “Vermont Girl” after they were arrested in Lebanon last August, raising the total number of detainees in the case of 5.
Since last August 5, the Public Ministry investigates the incident of some people sexually assaulting a girl inside the “Fairmont Nile City” hotel in Cairo, after receiving on August 4 a letter from the National Council of Women attaching a complaint filed by the victim and some information from some witnesses about the incident. .

The beginning of the case
At the end of last July, the hashtag “Vermont Crime” reached the social network Twitter, where hundreds of tweeters shared a story that the Assault Police account carried on the Instagram account of a girl who said she was raped in 2014 inside the Fairmont Hotel after being drugged with GHB, rendering her unconscious. And that they were photographed during the assault on her in addition to engraving their names on her body and threatening her if she decided to report them.

Fairmont Hotel Response
The management of the Fairmont Nile City Hotel announced that the hotel is aware of and is following what is circulating on social media regarding the rape incident, which may have occurred at the hotel during a special ceremony for one of the event organizers and parties in 2014.
The hotel added, in a statement posted on its Twitter account, that “the hotel team has been communicating immediately with the groups responsible for this news to provide assistance and support, since one of our main priorities is to maintain security of our guests and colleagues ”, confirming their commitment to help the authorities and the authorities concerned. The authorized person in case an official investigation is opened.
National Council
In turn, the National Council for Women confirmed that it stands by all women and girls exposed to any form of threat by providing them with the necessary support, and the Council urges people exposed to these threats to contact the Council through the complaints office number “15115”.
The victim went to the National Council for Women, which registered her complaint and then referred it to the Public Ministry to take legal action against her.

The Public Ministry orders the arrest of the accused (August 23)
In the second statement issued on the case, the Prosecutor’s Office ordered the arrest of the defendants in the incident of assaulting a girl at the Hotel (Fairmont) in 2014, placing them on travel veto lists and awaiting their arrival. To interrogate what is attributed to them. The prosecution said the decision came after conducting its investigations, which included questioning the victim and several witnesses.

Lebanese Authorities Arrest 3 Fleeing Defendants (Aug 29)
The Internal Security Forces in Lebanon announced that they had arrested 3 people wanted for the Vermont crime at the request of the Interpol office in Egypt.
Lebanese security authorities stated that the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces received a letter from the Interpol office in Egypt, which includes the names of seven Egyptians, who are in Lebanon, accused of raping a girl during 2014 in a hotel in Cairo, and which was recently referred to the Egyptian judiciary. Interpol returns 3 defendants to Cairo
