The Council of Private and Private Universities held a meeting today Thursday, headed by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Dr. Siddiq Abdel Salam, Secretary General of the Council, and heads of private universities and private, in the Private Educational Complex of New Cairo.
At the beginning of the session, the members of the Council observed a minute of silence for the spirit of Muhammad Farid Khamis, who passed away on September 19, when the Minister praised his great and fragrant career in the field of industry and the educational field, as he was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the British University, and the patron and founder of Sunrise Academy.
The minister highlighted that, as of the second semester of the 2020/2021 academic year, there will be a new system for coordinating admission to private universities, completely similar to the one in force in public universities. Guarantee total justice and transparency among students, taking into account the personal examinations carried out by private universities.
The minister called for the formation of a committee that includes Dr. Siddiq Abdel Salam, Secretary General of the Council, Dr. Hatem Al-Balak, President of Sinai University, Dr. Samir Shaheen, responsible for government coordination, and to Dr. Sherif Kishk. In order to establish the foundations and standards of this system for presentation to the Council in its next session.
Dr. Abdel Ghaffar also highlighted the importance of supporting the new universities that private universities want to establish with the new specializations that society needs and that meet the requirements of comprehensive development in Egypt.
Regarding the rules for the acceptance of free scholarships for outstanding and incapable students who have obtained an Egyptian high school diploma from an Egyptian government school for the 2020/2021 academic year, the minister indicated that the same rules followed in previous years should be 5% of the number of free scholarships offered by the university. Students assigned to each of the university’s colleges and that in all private university colleges, with the exception of pharmacy and dentistry colleges in which a small number of scholarships (1 to 5) are assigned to each college for the following categories:

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar also indicated that STEM school students can accept fees at private universities with a minimum admission rate of 5% less than their counterparts in government coordination.
The minister called on university rectors to the importance of preserving some places in private university colleges to accommodate those who have obtained Kuwait State High School, as well as second-round students if possible. .
For his part, Dr. Siddiq Abdel Salam praised the efforts of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in boosting large national projects in the higher education sector.
He noted the support of political leaders for the higher education sector and scientific research, confirming that the development of the university education system is one of the top priorities of the Egyptian state and political leadership in a way that serves the interests of citizens, especially young people, and noted that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated a series of educational facilities such as the Japanese Egyptian University, and several From private universities, and projects for the Ministries of Higher Education and Education.
The Council approved the establishment of the Mansoura Private University, which emanated from the Mansoura State University, which is the first of the private universities emanating from the Egyptian public universities and which the President of the Republic ordered to establish.
The Council was informed of the modification of the name of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences of the University 6 de Octubre, the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences of the Misr University of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences of the Delta University to become the name of these faculties, Faculty of Health Technology and Applied Sciences, with the incorporation of the Faculty of Nursing to the faculties of the University of Egypt and the University of October 6.
