UEFA announced the list based on the elections of a jury that includes the coaches of the clubs that participated in the Champions League last season and the European League, as well as 55 journalists representing UEFA’s member associations.

For the first time since UEFA launched the award in 2010, neither Ronaldo nor Messi were nominated for the award, as votes placed Messi in equal parts fourth with Brazil’s Neymar da Silva, while player Thomas Müller from Bayern Munich and seventh, Kylian Mbappé from Paris Saint-Germain was in sixth place. Then Thiago Alcantara VIII.

Bayern Munich’s Kimmich finished ninth, then Cristiano Ronaldo came 10th in last place among the players nominated for the Best European Award.

The winning player will receive the best prize, on October 1, in the draw for the 2020-2021 UEFA Champions League group stage.

It should be noted that the last to win this award was Virgil van Dyck last season, beating the Italian duo Ronaldo, the star of Italian Juventus and Messi, the captain of Barcelona.
