Mikel Arteta explained why Mohamed Elnani did not pay in West Ham United’s game, despite his brilliance in Fulham’s match on matchday one of the Premier League.
Arsenal beat West Ham by two goals to one, to claim their second consecutive league win, in a match that saw Al Nani sitting on the bench.
“Nani deserved to play West Ham again, but I wanted to rotate in the formation,” Arteta said in featured comments on London football.
“I pushed Danny Ceballos to create offensive positions in light of the way West Ham defends,” he added.
“We had to attack tight spaces in the defense of West Ham,” added the Spanish coach.
“We will try to strengthen the team before the end of the summer transfer window,” he added.
The current transfer period ends exceptionally on October 5 due to the suspension of last season due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Ceballos and Edward Nikitah attracted attention in the first round, not because of their performance on the field, but because of a fight between them during pre-game warm-up operations.
